DescriptionSelf-adhesive backed intumescent material that is coated on one side to reduce wear and which is designed to line the aperture of letterboxes in fire resistant door assemblies. On exposure to heat from a fire the intumescent material swells to many times its original volume producing a fire resistant seal against the passage of fire, smoke and hot gases. The liner can be used in either existing or new letter boxes and is designed to be used with metal letter plates/tidys which must be fitted to both sides of the door and which have aluminium, brass or steel flaps. Benefits
Availability
InstallationTo install into an existing letterbox opening, remove the front and back plates and enlarge aperture to suit the addition of the liner. Offer the liner up to the letterbox and cut to size. Remove the release paper from the self-adhesive backing and push the liner firmly into position along its full length (we recommend that the longest pieces are fitted first). Refit existing letter plates (if suitable) to both sides. To install into new work simply cut the aperture to size then fit as detailed above. Finally, fit new letter plates (as detailed) to both sides. In all cases it is essential that the aperture is smooth, dry and free of dust and grease that may impair the bond, if there is any doubt we would recommend that the liner be pinned in position. It is important to ensure the liner is installed so that the leading edge is flush with the external face of the door and that the liner does not interfere with the operation of the letterbox or plates. Health and SafetyThe product does not present any known health hazards during or after installation. Normal good industrial and personal hygiene practises should be observed. |
