DescriptionGraphite based intumescent contained within a robust, high quality pvc extrusion specifically designed to fit into rebates of fire resisting door assemblies. When activated by fire the intumescent material swells to many times its original volume producing a fire resistant seal against the passage of fire, smoke and hot gases. The seals are available in a wide range of sizes and colours and can be supplied with or without a cold brush smoke seal. All seals are supplied with a self-adhesive backing tape to provide quick and easy installation. Benefits
AvailabilityThe AF range of seals are available in the following standard sizes:
NB: all dimensions are nominal and subject to manufacturing tolerances. Storage: intumescent strips should be stored flat in a clean, dry area away from heat.
InstallationThe strips should be fitted into a groove of suitable width and depth to ensure that the pvc holder is flush with surroundings. (If the seals are to be fitted at a later stage we would recommend that allowance in the rebate width/depth be made to allow for timber shrinkage, manufacturing tolerances and/or for the use of paints/stains). The recommended gap between door and frame is no more than 4mm. If using strips with a self-adhesive backing tape, ensure that the seal is pushed firmly into position along its full length. It is important to ensure that the contact surface of the grove is dry and free of dust and grease that may impair the bond. If there is any doubt we would recommend that the seal be either glued or pinned in position. If the door or frame is to be painted/stained care should be taken to ensure that the paint/stain does not come into contact with the brush pile on combined fire & smoke seals. Important: a fire door assembly will have its own fire test evidence available from the door manufacturer, which must be checked to confirm that the correct size/type intumescent seals are being fitted. see a guide to fitting intumescent strips Health and SafetyThe product does not present any known health hazards during or after installation. Normal good industrial and personal hygiene practises should be observed. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
