DescriptionA high performance graphite based intumescent material contained within a metal sleeve, which on exposure to heat from a fire will expand many times its own volume to crush and fill the void left by collapsing upvc pipes or trunking. Benefits
ApplicationThe collars are a one-piece application suitable for use in multi-storey office and flat developments, hospitals and hotels or anywhere upvc pipes or trunking pass through fire compartment floors or walls. The collar can be cast or semi-cast into the floor or wall or surface mounted and secured in place with non-combustible screws or steel anchors. The collar must be fitted on either side of the penetration when both sides of the wall are a fire risk. AvailabilityThe collars are available in a range of standard sizes to suit 30mm to 530mm diameter upvc pipes. Further details available on request. InstallationTo concrete or blockwork - the collar should be fitted around the pipe and secured in place by closing the clip. The collar should be slid into place ensuring that the fixing lugs are flush with the surface and secured to the structure using 6mm non-combustible stud or sleeve anchors. Any voids around the outside should be filled using a fire rated compound or intumescent mastic. They may also be cast or semi-cast within the floor or wall using fire rated compound. In hollow partitions - the collar should be fitted around the pipe and secured in place by closing the clip. The collar should be slid into place ensuring that the fixing lugs are flush with the surface and secured to the structure using 6mm non-combustible screws or 6mm non-combustible cavity fixings. NB: It is essential that the fixing method is capable of holding the product to the structure for the duration of the fire resistance required. Seal any small gaps with intumescent mastic. Floors - penetrations through floors require a collar fitted to the underside of the penetration only. Health and SafetyThe collars present no known health hazard and require no special procedures during or after installation. We recommend normal good industrial and personal hygiene practises are observed. |
