Description

Graphite based intumescent material supplied in pads or sheet form, for installation behind hinges, striker plates, door closers and pivot plates and around lock mechanisms.

On exposure to heat from a fire, the intumescent material expands to insulate and slow the transfer of heat in and around the ironmongery used on fire door assemblies.

Hinge Pads: 100mm x 36mm x 2mm

Lock Paper: 500mm x 500mm x 0.8mm

Installation

Cut the pads/paper to required size using a knife or scissors.

Fit to back face of hinges, striker plates; to help secure pin to the timber using small panel pin. The hinges, striker plates can then be screwed into position; an increase in the depth of the rebate should be allowed for fitting of hinges and strikers plates.

When installing locks an allowance should be made for the fitting of the paper and avoid it being torn. Wrap paper around all sides of the lock; ensure that handles, spindles and lock barrels passing through the door are also wrapped in the Lock Paper.

When fitting door closers cut Lock Paper to size of the door closer and sandwich between the closer and the door.

Health and Safety

We recommend that dust masks and gloves be worn when handling or cutting the materials as the dust produced is an irritant. Avoid contact with eyes and keep out of the reach of children.

Normal good industrial and personal hygiene practises should be observed.
