document B of the Building Regulations outlines the need for buildings to be
divided into compartments, and specifies the level of fire performance the
compartment walls and floors need to achieve. We supply a comprehensive range of
fire stopping products that can provide up to 240 minute fire protection
for construction joints and service penetrations.
In any
building the route of the services (such as plastic and metallic water pipes,
cabling, and ventilation ducting etc), can penetrate the compartment walls and
floors. At the point the services penetrate the compartment; the compartment
must maintain the specified level of fire performance, this is done by the use
of Fire Stopping systems in the form of pipe closers, fire rated mastics,
mineral fibre batts, fire pillows etc.
We also supply a range of products that
can be used to retard the spread of fire into roof spaces and wall cavities via
openings created by the installation of light fittings, recessed switch/socket boxes,
cables and trunking.
Also buildings
are designed with gaps to allow for building movement, these are generally in
compartment walls and floors, and therefore must maintain the specified level of
fire performance, whilst allowing for required movement. This can be achieved by
using flexible fire rated movement joints, in the form of intumescent expansion strips and
fire rated mastics. |
